He married in 1952 his small college friend, Dolphia Parker. they had four children, two binoculars, Debra and Danna, then two son, Dirk and Dennis.Il began as professeur.Il owes its fame to his role in the television western series Bonanza (1959-1972) in which he played the tough and debonair Eric "Hoss" Cartwright.

Dan Blocker died in 1972, at the age of 44, of a pulmonary embolism.
